Putin warns West it risks “fighting Russia” if it lets Ukraine use long-range missiles | BBC News

Russia’s President Putin has warned that the United States and European countries would be “directly participating” in the war in Ukraine if they lift restrictions on it using long-range missiles ...to strike Russian territory.

He said that would change the nature of the conflict and mean the US and other NATO countries were “fighting with Russia”.

It comes as the United States and Nato allies consider whether to allow Ukraine to use the long-range missiles they’ve supplied to attack targets within Russia.

Mr Putin has repeatedly warned in the past that Russia could escalate the conflict and might use nuclear weapons if its security was threatened.

Reeta Chakrabarti presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Damian Grammaticas and Steve Rosenberg.
